Sweet October

Why do you seduce me so
Sweet October? September sweeps
The summer winds and
You bring in the cold.
The freeze looms ever closer,
And yet still I romanticize
Your rouge leaves, bloodthirsty
For the warmth.
You consume me like you
Consume the leaves.
You make me brittle and
Crumble and your sweet kiss.
And then my pieces are
Swept away; flying through
November winds into the
Cold embrace of winter.
